Long journeys are usually exciting because they mean we’re going to a distant place, but they can also be exhausting. To prepare you for your long flight, Molo Longo is bringing you 9 key pieces of advice:

  1. Choose an aisle seat

Although you might be looking forward to the view from the air, trust us, looking at the same cloud formations for hours gets tedious after a while, and you’re still left with less legroom. Likewise, you will surely want to stretch your legs or at least take a walk to the bathroom. In this case, it will be much easier if you don’t have to wake up your neighbour who had just nodded off. Most flight companies today offer the possibility of choosing your seat – use it.

  1. Bring a shawl or a scarf

Even if you’re travelling in the middle of summer, high altitude temperatures are low, and the cabin temperature is usually between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. However, when all you’re doing is sitting still, that might become too cold for you, so it’s always a good idea to have a thin layer of cloth that you can put over yourself to keep you warm.

  1. Dress comfortably

We all feel a bit special when on a plane – we’re catered to, everything is quite formal, the flight attendants are at our disposal. But don’t bring too much of that formal setting to your clothes – you will have to sit in it for several hours. ?

  1. Bring a powerbank

Long flights often include layovers, which can take hours. In order to make sure you don’t have to fight your way to a free socket, we suggest you invest in a powerbank that will make sure you don’t run out of battery mid-flight.

  1. Pack a book

If you didn’t take our advice number 4, and your cell phone or tablet died while flying over the ocean, a good old book is the perfect alternative. Bring a paperback book and dive into the world of imagination. Your mind and soul will thank you, and you might even look more sophisticated in the eyes of fellow passengers. ?

  1. Own headset

Flight companies often provide passengers with free headsets, but they are often with special jacks and their sound quality is dubious. Planes can be pretty loud places – nervous children, excited youngsters, friends chatting away… So it’s a good idea to have your own headset close at hand in order to tune all of that out and relax for a bit.

  1. Less make-up

You definitely don’t want to spend hours under a thick layer of make-up, which will in any case smear after a while. Instead, we recommend a good hydration cream to prevent the plane air from drying out your face and hands.

  1. Mouthwash

If your flight is more than a couple of hours, you will most probably be given a complimentary vanity set with essentials such as a toothbrush and some toothpaste. However, it might come in handy to rinse your mouth with mouthwash as well. They are available in small travel bottles and won’t take up much room, and they could be life-savers.

  1. Take a walk

It’s very important to take a walk every hour or two. This will prevent leg, neck and back pain, and we’re sure this will make you feel better after you land.
